How could one resist a room full of hard hitting urban beats and a sold out crowd of wide-eyed burners and locals sweating and dancing on a floor vibrating like a car from the “Too Fast Too Furious?”
It seemed like one of Tahoe City's olden days: a line outside Lakeside Pizza (formerly Pierce Street Annex), thumping sounds that could be heard from Safeway and a Tahoe City that had a show to boast about.
A Burning Man favorite and San Francisco's own, Bassnectar brought down the house until the wee hours of the night. With long hair flopping up, down and around and hands flipping switches and dials, DJ Lauren kept the crowd hopping until the party finally came to a close near 3 am. Lakeside Pizza and Bassnectar created a vibe that it appeared everyone was craving, a true urban style, club scene, dance party.
Lakeside Pizza, has changed its feel and is working its way back as Tahoe City's #1 venue for DJ and live music, Lakeside owner David Higham said.
"Lakeside is set up for DJs and live music, we are still working in events calender. We are leaning towards DJ nights Thursday though Sunday with more of a live music theme Monday through Wednesdays. We want to mix it up and keep it fresh. Monday is our Reggae night and Tuesday nights we would like to have battle of bands or live shows.”
Lakeside can hold upwards of 300 including the deck, which is about what the Bassnectar show saw. They are a lunch, dinner and pizza place till 9 p.m. then we are a club.
Higham said they are always looking for acts to play, and would like to have a weekly calendar. Lakeside is always looking for locals bands for its Monday through Wednesday schedule.
“We want to keep it affordable for locals,” Higham continued. “It would be nice to have a place where locals can come in and not have to pay more then a $5 cover.”
