Despite having a solid week of North Tahoe and Truckee Independence Day events going down, there’s no reason this actual Fourth of July can’t be the best one ever.  Even if you’ve already burned yourself out with the party at Sol y Lago last Friday, the Beerfest at Northstar, Tahoe Red, White and Blue in Incline or the fireworks that happened on Tuesday — there’s still more to come and plenty to do this Fourth of July and beyond. So saddle up and take note, here’s a road map to your best Fourth ever.

Pancake Breakfast
There are a handful of pancake breakfasts through the week, such as Meeks Bay Fire Dept. on Saturday. Most are fundraisers and all are great ways to start the day for the whole family.  There are two on the Fourth, one is put on by the North Tahoe Firefighters Association and will be at the North Tahoe Conferance Center in Kings Beach from 7 – 11 a.m., the other is sponsored by the North Tahoe Lions Club at Aspen Grove in Incline Village.  It starts at 8 a.m.

Truckee Parade
Truckee’s Independence Day celebration kicks off at 10 a.m. with a hometown parade through historical downtown. Grab the kids and get down there to grab yourself a spot to see the floats for this year’s theme “Treasure of the Sierra.”

After the parade you can go a few different directions. Commons Beach in Tahoe City is a good place to post up for the day, do some swimming, sunbathing and dining at one of Tahoe City’s many restaurants.  If you’ve been at the beach all day you’ll have a prime spot for the Tahoe City fireworks when the sun goes down.
Or check out the Optimist Picnic at Incline Beach in Incline Village from noon to 4 p.m. Games and customary all–American fare bring out the masses.

Float the River
If you’re not into parades or beach lounging but looking for a floating party, team up with either Truckee River Raft Co. or Mountain Air Sports and put in near the wye in Tahoe City before float rafting to River Ranch.  It’s about a three hour leisure ride, and come if you’re looking for some friends, because the river will be packed with floaters.  Wind up at River Ranch for some nachos before shuttling back to Tahoe City.

Fireworks
The Fourth has fireworks at Incline Village, Tahoe City and Donner Lake so take your pick.  West End Beach on Donner is the place to be in Truckee both before and during the Fireworks with a barbecue during the evening leading up. Incline Village’s Village Green also will have a barbecue and concert with Lacy J. Dalton before the fireworks and in Tahoe City post up at Commons Beach or down the brand new stretch of bike path to watch the show.  For dinner and a show get a reservation at Wolfdale’s, Sol y Lago, Jake’s or Christy Hill and watch the fireworks from their decks. Or check out the Tahoe Gal’s dinner cruise leaving the Lighthouse Center at 7 p.m. for drinks, dinner, music and the fireworks from the lake.

After Party
If the grand finale of the fireworks show is over too early, head up to the Boatworks Mall and Sol y Lago’s post fireworks party spun by DJ Paul and grab yourself an exotic cocktail or draught beer to celebrate our victory over the Redcoats in style. Or head over to the Crystal Bay Club Casino in Crystal Bay, NV and check out the Guy Forsyth Band’s free Red Room show starting at 10 p.m.
