My Favorite Place:
The JP Trail, Coldstream Canyon, Truckee

Just two minutes from the door of the Sierra Sun office where I work, the JP Trail is a sweet little singletrack mountain bike ride at the entrance to Coldstream Canyon.

To get there, ride along Coldstream Road past the Chevron and 76 gas stations and into Donner Memorial State Park. At the end of the pavement, veer left on the dirt road that goes back into Coldstream Canyon. At the bottom of the first hill, look for the trail to the left of the main road. At the top of the hill the trail crosses to the right side of the road and starts ascending Schallenberger Ridge. You’ll ride up a number of switchbacks before getting to the top of the fun singletrack section of the trail.

You could go on, but why? It’s way more fun to turn around and ride the switchbacks downhill, then do another lap.
