Cottonwood On Rue Hilltop off Old Brockway Road, Truckee, California 530·587·5711 www.cottonwoodrestaurant.com
The Cottonwood Restaurant blends the atmosphere of a hopping historic ski lodge with flavorful local entrees and appetizers to make for a memorable dining night. Located at historic Hilltop, overlooking Truckee’s downtown, the restaurant also features a welcoming bar with a unique array of hearty beers, fine wines and mixed drinks.
The Space Wooden, rustic and festooned with wooden planks of bygone skis, the Cottonwood Restaurant building was one of the West’s first ski lodges. Happen into the restaurant on a snowy winter night, and you can sip wine as you watch snow flakes blanket downtown Truckee in white.
The Food Grass-fed beef cuts, fish and prawns are some of the notable offerings at Cottonwood. The restaurant serves up a mouth-watering dish of Thai red curried prawns with house rice, bok choy, and shitake mushrooms. Grass-fed hamburgers provide a less pricey option for diners.
The Drinks Cottonwood’s bar offers a selection of microbrews, as well as domestic and foreign favorites, and an ample wine list. A full bar awaits those who desire a mixed drink, such as the house specialty, the French Margarita.
Tidbit Enjoy great local acoustic music each weekend in the Fireplace Room.
Price Range Entrees in the $20-$30 range; burgers are $12.
Hours of Operation The Cottonwood bar opens at 4:30 p.m. and the dining room opens at 5:30 p.m. nightly.
