Okay guys, I haven’t completely forgotten about you. In fact I happen to love shopping for the guys in my life.

I find it a lot less overwhelming on the men’s side of the store since you can start with the basics — a pair of jeans and a T-shirt — throw in a cool belt, some sunglasses, or a pair of sneakers, and it’s stylish without looking like your trying too hard.

Speaking of trying too hard, the other night I met a guy wearing a printed hoodie, T-shirt, and a tie. It just didn’t make sense, but I appreciated the effort he was making to rock his own personal style.

My No. 1 rule for guy’s — pay attention here — is to buy clothes that actually fit you.

Sound easy enough?

Invest in a good pair of jeans that fits your waist, not sagging at your knees. Most guys I know absolutely hate the thought of shopping at a mall, or trying on clothes at the store for that matter.

Do it anyway.

I have a pet peeve about too-big T-shirts too. If you’re a skinny guy, who cares? A shirt that fits properly looks better any day of the week.

Abide by the clothes-that-fit rule and you’ll start collecting compliments, trust me.

My second bit of advice expands on rule No. 1 — accessorize.

Man scarves are making a comeback. Actor Jude Law single-handedly popularized the scarf trend for men. Just don’t buy one that’s 100 percent wool, way too itchy.

Throwing on a cool leather belt or a pair of aviator shades adds that extra something and makes people think you took more than two minutes to get dressed in the morning.

As for man bags, that’s your own personal preference.

Quick tip: Instead of buying those same-old-same-old white tube socks for dad’s stocking this Christmas, get him a pair of argyle socks.
