‘Tis the season to be jolly. ‘Tis also the season for holiday shopping to find that how-did-you-know- I-needed-that perfect present for everyone on my list. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love buying gifts for other people. Maybe it’s the challenge to come up with something completely original or just the actual gift-giving exchange on Christmas day I look forward to every year that makes my trip to the mall worth it.

But there’s always that one person, one that no matter how much I wrack my brain, is impossible to shop for because they have everything. My grandma is that person. She’s set on her matching pantsuits and cardigans in every color pallete, drawers of baubles, home accessories, and everything else a grandma could possibly need. So now what do I do?

Well, I was shopping (yeah, big surprise there) at the Gap a few weekends ago and checked out their (PRODUCT) RED merchandise and immediately wanted to buy just about every item I picked up. Gap has cotton tops for about $28 with different words printed on the front, like DESI(RED) or HAMME(RED), ideal to give to a friend or sister. The luxurious cashmere hoodies for men and women also come with a luxurious price tag at $265, but guess what? Half of the profits from all (PRODUCT) RED items goes directly to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS in Africa.

Here’s a tip for all you Internet shoppers - supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through their Hope catalogue is only a mouseclick away. At their Web site, www.stjude.org, you can order designer duds like a rhinestone-appliqué DKNY “Give Thanks” T-shirt for $24 or a Tommy Hilfiger polo shirt for $29, perfect for the avid golfer. And for the kiddies’ stockings, St. Jude’s has playful, brightly-colored umbrellas with either an animal or robot print to choose from for only $10. With 85 percent of every dollar to support the current or future needs of St. Jude’s, these are the kind of gifts that give back, so why not give it a try?

Will I be giving my grandma a HAMME(RED) T-shirt for Christmas this year? Mmm...probably not, but I’m sure I can figure something out.
