Ugh... Ugg boots have returned with a vengeance again this season. And you know what kills me the most? Seeing those girls on MTV’s Laguna Beach still wearing them with itsy-bitsy denim mini skirts.
Now I know just how comfortable they are when you’re making a quick run to the grocery store — just don’t be lazy and wear them to work in place of actual shoes. But we here in Tahoe at least have an excuse to bundle up in the winter. It’s freezing cold outside and there is actually snow on the ground some of the time.
However, there is a fine line between dressing accordingly for winter weather conditions and looking like Ralphie’s little brother in “A Christmas Story” in the scene where his mom suits him up for the snow and he falls over and can’t get up.
Gals have a wide variety of snow-worthy styles to choose from this year - fromfur-lined jackets to striped tunic-length sweaters — just please, please don’t overdo it. If you don’t have a pair of knee-high boots in your closet yet, go buy some immediately. Uggs don’t count (see explanation above). Depending on different body types, some gals can pull off the jeans-tucked-into-boots trend, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
Have more athletic legs? Try a pair of slouchy suede or soft leather boots to get the right fit. Instead of jeans try a knee-length skirt with opaque tights.
