It was a night full of firsts for Tahoe Comedy North at the Crystal Bay Club last week.
The first ever Tahoe Comedy North double-header. The first “R rated” show. And the first time two local comedians have shared billing in the same show.
And did the crowd ever appreciate it.
The Crown Room was packed for both shows, largely because local boys Aaron Wilson (Tahoe City resident) and Kyle Fincham (grew up in Incline Village) both brought boisterous groups of friends and family out to support them.
Host Kristi McHugh started the night off right with her insights into guys, girls, and bad behavior of all kinds, before handing the mic off to Aaron Wilson who seemed right at home on stage in front of the home-town crowd.
Wilson’s routine hit on a number of classic topics (dating & sex, life in Tahoe, etc.), all of which had the audience laughing hysterically (except for the chirping girl in the front row — if you were at the show you know who I’m talking about — whose laugh was almost as amusing as the comedians’ material).
After a thoroughly funny warm up, Kyle Fincham kept things rolling while embarrassing his mom and family with stories from his “interesting” sexual experiences. Any recap wouldn’t do justice to just how funny Kyle is on stage while acting out the stories he tells.
And finally, headliner Morgan Preston finished off the night with almost an hour of stand up comedy that dared the audience not to laugh. Any time a joke flopped, he just got more extreme and more extreme until the typically uptight Tahoe crowd was laughing at the most politically incorrect jokes they could imagine... and loving it.
