Wednesday, July 2
• Red, White and Tahoe Blue. The annual Red, White and Tahoe Blue celebration includes three-days of fun, food, music education, entertainment culminated with dueling fireworks display, all in Incline Village July 2-4. For more visit www.RedWhiteandTahoeBlue.org.

• Free Movies at Commons Beach. Commons Beach in Tahoe City features free family movies on the beach every Wednesday at dusk. Featured movie for this date is "August Rush" Rated PG. Running Time 133 minutes.

• Take a Step Against Poverty. Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City invites you to take a step against poverty. Trade in your old shoes for a 20 percent discount on a new pair of Chaco footwear through July 5. For more information, call (530) 583-6917.

• Caliente is hosting its free tequila tasting and seminar from 5 to 6 p.m. because of the holiday. The event is usually held every first Thursday of the month and feature a different tequila every time, this month is El Mayor.

Thursday, July 3
• Whole Lotta Squaw. The Village at Squaw Valley presents competitors in the High Sierra Beard and Mustache Championship along with a huge and colorful Independence Day Laser Light Show and live music from Led Zeppelin Tribute band Heartbreaker.

• Pedal There Thursdays. Ride your bike on Thursdays and receive many prizes and discounts at featured businesses and restaurants on the North Shore. Sign up at the Tahoe City Farmers Market every Thursday or for more information, call (530) 582-4800.

• Truckee Thursdays. The streets of Downtown Truckee come alive every Thursday evening throughout the summer from 4 to 8 p.m. with art, live music, children’s entertainment, outdoor activities, shopping, restaurant sampling and wine tasting. For more, call (775) 342-3605

• Raft the Truckee River. Rafting season officially began last week, as the gates of the Tahoe City Dam were opened and water was released from Lake Tahoe into the Truckee River, allowing commercial raft companies to open for business. Please be safe.

Saturday, July 5
• Stargazing at Squaw. Stargazing Professionals Paul and Gigi Giles bring a variety of high-powered telescopes to High Camp at Squaw Valley. Free with Cable Car ride starting at dusk. (Stargazing dates are July 4-5, 11-12, 25-26 and Aug 1-12, 8-9, 11, 22-23 and 29-30).

• A Night of Wine and Roses. Moody’s Bistro & Lounge and Northstar at Tahoe present a night of wine tasting with a live and silent auction event to benefit Project MANA from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Overlook in the Village at Northstar. Tickets at www.projectmana.org.

• Charreada. The region’s first Charreada (Mexican Rodeo) and community celebration in Truckee at the McIver Arena from 4 to 10 p.m. Tickets prices for adults are $35 pre-sale and $40 at the gate, children (7-14) are $20. For more, call (530) 587-2757.
