The space
Forget everything you remember about the Café Biltmore. What you see today is the new Café Biltmore. Yes, the $1.99 Biltmore breakfast is gone, but so is the reputation that you get what you pay for.

New food and beverage director Jeremy Wilken last week not only overhauled the cafe’s dining options, but also the café — the only renovation to the restaurant in its 18 years. Guests will find a fresh new menu and a renovated, brighter and more open dining area.

Yes, the fake trees are gone, and now there is a filtered lake view from select tables, or choose to sit front and center at the counter near the kitchen or lounge one of the many booths. Taking advantage of the Biltmore’s patio space, there is now an outside eating area with umbrellas and beautiful landscaping.

The food
Wilken, who is a chef by trade, brings more than a decade of experience in fine and casual dining to the Biltmore.

Wilken created a traditional cafe dining experience with home-cooked meals and a few spins on everyday favorites. With the same affordable prices but a fresher taste — no more processed food — it is worth coming to the Café Biltmore any time of the day or night.

The whole menu is based around homestyle cooking with fresh ingredients. They kept a few signature dishes, but there is not one item on the menu that hasn’t been recreated by Wilken and his new staff. They offer quality food 24-hours a day. During summer months, al fresco dining is also available.

The drinks
Cocktails can be ordered in the dining area and there is an entire list of beverages on the menu.

Gotta Try
Chicken Pot Pie; a traditional favorite of pot pie filling with a basket weave puff pastry dough crisscrossed on top. The chefs use a classical cooking procedure to make this home-cooked meal ready to order. You have never seen a pot pie like this.

The burgers are also a popular item on the menu. Those looking for a quick bite with great people watching, can stop by the new outdoor eating area on the lobby floor of the Biltmore, Parker’s Patio Grille. Grab a freshly grilled burger (same one on the Cafe Biltmore menu).

Tidbit
Healthy and fresh are the basics of the new menu. The fresh cut French fries are a new favorite on the menu. They are cut fresh, blanched at a low temperature and then fried to order. They are not soggy and always crispy.

Location
The Café Biltmore is located in the Tahoe Biltmore Casino at 5 State Hwy., in Crystal Bay.
