The Food Owner Amy Burke’s goal is big portions that will keep you going all day for a reasonable price.
“Over the years we have developed what some of our customers call ‘beefy, man-sized sandwiches,” Burke said.
Breakfast options include hearty wraps and bagel sandwiches with fresh ingredients like avocado and chorizo, while lunch offers up a variety of sandwiches — both cold and panini-style grilled hot — salads, soups, wraps and chili for carnivores and vegetarians alike.
The Drinks Out on display are a variety of unique juices, iced-teas, sodas, other cold beverages, and of course, coffee to stay awake and alert on your next flight.
Gotta Try Burke said two of her most popular sandwich are real flyers — the Philly Flyer and the Tijuana Flyer. The Philly Flyer includes roast beef, provolone, sautéed peppers and onions and horseradish sauce, while the Tijuana is a grilled sandwich with turkey, jack cheese, ortega chilies, and a spicy chipotle sauce on sourdough.
For the vegetarians, the Amelia Earhart blends humus, avocado, jack cheese, sundried tomatoes, sprouts, onions, cucumbers and lettuce on wheat. Also check the website for daily specials.
Price Range The bill for lunch is also easy to swallow, at between $8 and $10 out the door.
Tidbit Burke serves up food-to-go for pilots with aircraft catering which can be a box lunch for the captain, or a box of dog treats and a bowl of water for his faithful sidekick. The Runway Cafe also caters for local business lunches and the like with fruit, cheese and cracker trays.
