Boreal Mountain Resort reminds participants to bring an appetite this weekend as they present the best in home style barbecue rib cooking and on mountain jibbing in the first annual Rib and Jib Festival, pinning Tahoe’s resorts head to head in a best recipe cook off.
On Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30 Boreal will host plenty of events with all proceeds benefiting the Boarding for Breast Cancer Fund (B4BC) a non-profit, youth-focused education, awareness and fundraising foundation. Its mission is to increase awareness about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and the value of an active lifestyle.
Brought to you by Boreal, Missboarder.com, Porters Sports, SnowBomb and Boarding for Breast Cancer, the festivities will kick off on Saturday at 10 a.m. There will be a rib cook off between participating Tahoe resorts to see who can claim boss of the barbecue. A $5 donation will grant all patrons a plate of ribs and a side dish. The grand prize for the best recipe includes a trophy and the right to claim the best food out of a Tahoe Resort.
Boreal’s marketing coordinator Matt Aspinall said he is really excited to be putting on an event like this.
“It creates a great family atmosphere,” Aspinall said. “We plan on having something for everyone, even if they’re not the traditional snow lover. Our head chef Bill will be doing all the cooking for us. He has his own secret recipe that might give us a slight advantage, but I am unable to disclose that information.
Aspinall said they are planning on making enough food to feed the hungry, no one should leave with an empty belly at the end of the day. Additional events include, snow sculpting, age 14 and under box jam, 3 legged ski races and a rail jam. Sunday, March 30 dig deep for your neon and vintage snowsuit outfits for an 80’s era gear day, cardboard box derby and the snow sculpting finals. Registration for the events will be located at the group sales office.
