The Jake’s on the Lake St. Patrick’s Day party has been a staple North Tahoe celebration since 1997, back when it was held at Sunnyside Resort.

“We discovered no one was doing a traditional St. Patrick’s Day party,” said Jake’s co-owner Tim Hill, a former manager at Sunnyside Resort.

After partnering with friends and fellow musicians Eric Henry (former Tahoe World editor) and Ed Platt, live music during the restaurant’s St. Patrick’s Day fest added to the event’s flavor.

On Monday, March 17, Hill will be joining Mike Fontana and Dave (Lingenso) at the 88s at his very own St. Patrick’s Day party.

To get everyone in the spirit of the Irish, the restaurant’s Executive Chef Scott Yorkey will cook up hearty traditional Irish dishes as lamb stew and corned beef and cabbage. When the Irish toasts start, Jake’s will boast plenty of Guinness, Harp, as well as Irish whiskeys and creme liqueurs on hand. (All the ingredients of a good Car Bomb)

Since becoming a business partner at Jake’s, Hill now has his own establishment that allows him to take even more personal pride in celebrating his Celtic heritage.
“It feels great,” he said. “ I love the fun, the bittersweet (celebration). There’s a lot of blood, sweat and tears (in being Irish).”
