The Space
The Blue Coyote Sports Grill is located in the Village at Squaw Valley, and its window booths look onto a courtyard where skiers warm their hands over a bonfire.
The interior is warm, with wooden tables and booths offering room to stretch out, with plenty more seating at the full-service bar and outdoors (weather permitting).
Being a sports bar, the Blue Coyote has televisions installed in strategic places to give as many diners a view of the big game as possible.

The Blue Coyote has a second location in Truckee, with many of the same menu items and services.

The Food
Call it sports bar basic, but it’s diverse enough to please different palates, and substantial enough to satisfy starving snowboarders.

The Blue Coyote offers salads, sandwiches and half-pound burgers, served with fries, onion rings, “killer” cole slaw, or a cup of soup or chile. The burgers includes some impressive stacks, especially the popular Memphis BBQ and the pastrami-garnished New Yorker.

Hot dogs are also on the menu, as are some penne pasta dishes.
A new item for the Blue Coyote are the cheese steak sandwiches, including the Philly, Jalisco, Alpine and Little Italy.

For those who want to tune up, the appetizers includes “Nooches Wings of Fire,” which are available in several styles, include Thai and “Truckee Style” (hot with teriyaki). Other apps include jalapeno poppers, nachos, egg rolls and Coyote Quesadillas.

The Drinks
The Blue Coyote’s bar stools command a view of most of the restaurant and the Village at Squaw Valley.

Drink specialties include the Coyote Crush, an Absolut Mandarin Orange Crush; the Platinum Margarita, made with Patron Silver and Patron Citronge; and The Don, made with Don Julio Anejo and Grand Marnier. Twelve beers on tap, and 19 TV’s to watch.

The Blue Coyote in Truckee features a daily happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m.

Gotta Try
Gotta try the new nachos with tricolored chips, and the new calamari items.

Tidbit
One of the Blue Coyote’s hits for lunch is the Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ in a wrap or on a roll. The southern delicacy is topped with “killer” cole slaw.

Price Range
The Blue Coyote’s prices are moderate, allowing you to fill up even after an expensive day of skiing.
Sandwiches, burgers and cheese steaks range from $9 to $12, while grilled dinners are around $20. Salads and appetizers are all less than $10.

Location
The Village at Squaw Valley in Olympic Valley

Contact
Call the restaurant at (530) 584-6080.
