Where will you be when the clock strikes midnight?

An ideal New Year’s Eve alternative for early birds and families is the Mountaintop New Year’s Eve Dinner Celebration at High Camp, 8200’. The all-ages soiree includes a starry-night Cable Car ride, ice skating, a delicious prime rib buffet in the elegantly decorated Terrace Room, piano entertainment and a 9 p.m. PST (East Coast New Year’s) champagne toast will take place. Squaw Valley’s “mature” guests can choose from a myriad of New Year’s Eve celebrations including the biggest party on the North Shore in the Olympic House. The Fresh Tracks New Year’s Eve Party hosts three parties in one, with live music and house DJ beats in all three Olympic House bars. Tickets are $15 and guests must be 21 and older with a valid ID.

Ring the New Year in style at Northstar
• Come ring in the New Year at Northstar Resort at the annual Fire & Ice New Year’s party, open to all ages. There will be live music and entertainment, fireworks, skating, food, drinks and other fun. Live music will be from 2 to 8:30 p.m., with the fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar will also host a New Years Eve party. Mikuni’s event is open to ages 21 and over and starts at 10 p.m. The cost is $100 per person in advance , $150 per person at the door and includes great raffle prizes and all you can eat sushi from 10 p.m. to midnight. The event is limited to 200 people and tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.MikuniSushi.com.

Timbercreek Restaurant & Bar will also offer a special New Year’s Eve dinner menu. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (530) 562-2250.
Don’t want to drive? Take advantage of Northstar Resort’s complimentary shuttle service. Northstar Resort offers convenient on-site shuttle service to lodging guests and self-park customers. And, guests staying nearby can board one of Northstar Resort’s complimentary shuttles servicing North Lake Tahoe, Reno or Truckee and be dropped off and picked up at the Village entrance.


New Year’s Eve party at Sawtooth Ridge Cafe in Tahoe City
No need to drive through the gauntlet. Stay close to home and party in Tahoe City with Public Eye at Sawtooth Ridge Café in Tahoe City across from Safeway (formerly called Humptys). The music is from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. Tickets are only $10.

Tahoe’s veteran classic rock dance band, Public Eye, are back together in full force. Public Eye features Robbie Polomsky on guitar and vocals, Tom Barker on bass and vocals, and drummer extraordinaire, Kevin Fanning on drums with a set list of more than 300 songs including your favorites.

New Years at Jake’s on the Lake
Jake’s on the Lake will be hosting two New Year’s Eve dinner seatings and dancing open to all around 9:30 p.m. The first dinner seating will take place between 5:30 and 7 p.m. and the second will be between 7 and 9 p.m. All seatings are guaranteed and the second guests for the second seating can have their table all night long. DJ Ryu will be getting the party started with his music around 9:30 p.m. For reservations or more information, call (530) 583-0188.


Kings Beach
Tradewinds Bar will be featuring live music throughout the weekend. On Friday, Dec. 28 The Drinking Machine Guns with special guests Live Punk will be performing. On Saturday, Dec. 29 local band Horsemouth will perform and on Friday, Jan. 4 local organization Burners without Borders will be hosting a Tool Drive with DJ’s Chad Rock (LABA), Ryan Howard (Champagne and Bacon) and DJ Paul


Truckee
New Year’s Eve Bash at FiftyFifty Brewing Co.
Start your New Years celebration early beginning Dec. 29 with two nights of DJ Paul and DJ Chad Rock spinning beats on Dec. 29-30. On New Year’s even headlining band Subjektochange will get the party going with jazzy funk.
Subjektochange is a new collaboration of four Tahoe-based musicians. Eric Matlock, Nick DeNoia and Ray Erst — all members from the Jeff Jones Band, with Erv Wolf from the infamous guitar duo Shag. Yearning to take the funk and modern elements even further, they decided to start another project. The music is a combination of hard funk and blissed-out jams and it's nearly all-original material.
A champagne toast, coupon for a pint of beer, appetizers, and an extended set from Subjektochange will get the party started and set the mood for the special evening. Tickets are $20 in advance, available at the brewery or $25 at the door.

Frame of Mind rings in 2008 at the Bar of America
Kick off five nights of music Thursday, Dec. 27 with acoustic blends from Dan Anderson, The Jeff Jones Band, Dec. 28 to 29, and Frame of Mind ringing in the new year Dec. 30 and 31 at Bar of America.

The Jeff Jones Band will kick off the New Year’s weekend with southern rock and blues at 9:30 p.m. Blending sounds from jazz, blues and rock while injecting solid, imaginative lyrics, they have shared the stage with great acts like Umphrey’s Mcgee and Junior Brown and have established themselves as an exceptional show. Creating a unique sound that doesn’t fit easily into any single genre, the Jeff Jones Band, pushes musical boundaries. Jeff Jones, a Tahoe local, displays his mastery of the blues and slide guitar while his band mates create distinctive sound scapes that cross into numerous musical varieties. On the nights of Dec. 30 and New Year’s Eve, Frame of Mind will be on stage infusing musical elements from a wide variety of styles including funk, rock, reggae, Latin, fusion, psychedelic, blues and more. Frame of Mind has played with great musical acts such as The Doobie Brothers, Moe, and Soulive. Frame of Mind interweaves epic songwriting with improvisational exploration and catchy melodies with complex rhythms. This all makes for a danceable live music experience that is widely dynamic, diverse and captures everyone in the crowd whatever their taste may be. Start your New Year off in Incline Village
Long Eagle Grille will have two dinner seatings. A five course early seating will take place between 5 and 6 p.m. The later seating will take place between 8 and 9 p.m. and is a seven course meal. Reservations are needed for both, call (775) 886-6899. At 9 p.m. the Lone Eagle Grill will have a DJ in the ballroom — this is open to anyone without reservations.

If you are looking to dance the night away head to Cutthroats located in the Hyatt. They will have music and the party will begin around 8 p.m. There will be and will be a no food party, just music, drinks and fun.

The Hacienda de la Sierra will have happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. with food and drinks and dinner will be served in the dinning room until 10 p.m.

Rookies will be kicking off the New Year with dancing all night long with a DJ on the ones and twos. There is no cover charge and there will be free champagne at midnight. Rookies is located at 930 Tahoe Blvd. in Incline Village.

Big Water Grille will be having two seatings. The early dinner is $65 and does not include a raw bar. The later seating is $150 and includes a raw bar. Reservations are required, call (775) 833-0606. The Big Water Grille is located at 341 Ski Way.
