The Space
This quaint little coffee shop on the way out of (or into) Tahoe City seems like there’s always a party going on indoors. The Dam Girls behind the counter keep an eclectic mix of music playing as they dish out breakfast burritos, bagel and croissant sandwiches, lattés, espressos, mochas, and of course, coffee.

Owned by Glenn and Jen Campbell, The Dam Café is a popular spot for many, be it the before-sunrise construction crews, any number of Placer County Sheriff’s deputies, skiers, snowboarders, parents, kids, Tahoe Olympians — pretty much everyone finds a reason to fuel up here. The Campbells have also turned their walls into an art gallery featuring the works of local photographers. See Bill Langton’s dramatic wildlife and landscapes currently on display.

The Food
Plenty of hearty and healthy options, as well as the comfort foods. Breakfast and lunch burritos are the right size (not too big, nor too small), and have vegetarian options. Get a bagel or croissant sandwich with your choice of peppered bacon, turkey, veggie sausage, cheddar, provolone, gouda or Swiss cheeses. There’s no going wrong with the peppered bacon on any of the breakfast and lunch staples.

Gotta Try
Brazilian Black Bean soup … The Dam’s pureed black beans simmer with a spicy mix of onions, carrots, green peppers, cumin, salt and pepper. Order your oversized soup mug with all the extras, cheddar cheese, sour cream and pico salsa for the perfect way to ward of the winter chill.

The drinks
The drip coffee station features four flavors of must-have brew: Dam Delight, a Peruvian and a Guatemalan blend, Hawaiian Hazelnut and a fifth decaf blend for those in denial of their caffeine addiction. Now is the time to try some holiday drinks as well with the peppermint mocha, pumpkin spice latté and the egg nog latté. Gotta love the nog. And if you want something to chase down that Bacon Turkey Supreme sandwich, order a Fat Tire ale from the tap.

Tidbit
Need that little something other than a croissant or a bagel for your morning wake up? Try the homemade banana bread or the coffee cake.
Also check out handmade jewelry from many local artists.

Price Range
Very affordable. Prices vary from $1.25 to $8.

Location
55 West Lake Blvd., Tahoe City Across the street from Fanny Bridge.
