Join extreme ski guru Andrew McLean for a two-part presentation on backcountry skiing in Africa’s High Atlas Mountains of Morocco and the rugged peaks of northern Iran.
Better known for sand than skiing, both areas have pockets of amazing terrain and unique mountain cultures. From the hectic bazaars of Marrakech to alpine mountains higher than anywhere in the continental U.S. with skiing as good as anywhere on earth, this adventure proves that sometimes the best skiing is found in the least likely places.
A raffle will be held with proceeds to benefit the Sierra Avalanche Center, who will also be on hand to answer any questions. For more information about SAC go to www.sierraavalanchecenter.org.
This presentation is part of the Alpenglow Winter Film Series presented by Alpenglow Sports in Tahoe City. The series will be hosted by The Sawtooth Ridge Café in the heart of Tahoe City. The event will continue with one show each month through winter, with the finale during Snowfest.
 Alpenglow Sports, along with local climber Dave Nettle, have organized this community event. The programs will spotlight World-Class athletes and their latest adventures . Each show will also be a benefit for local and global charities. It is our goal to provide a quality community event combined with a focus on community service and charity. The series will give us a great opportunity to get together with friends, be inspired and give back.
There is no charge for the shows and everyone is welcome. There will been an optional raffle for great prizes with all proceeds going to the charities.
The Sawtooth Ridge Café will be open for drinks and a bite to eat before and during the shows. People are encouraged to arrive early for good seating.
