Wednesday Dec. 12 • Holiday music recital. Tahoe Conservatory of Music presents a Holiday recital at the North Tahoe Community Conference Center in Kings Beach. Elementary students perform at 4:30 p.m., high school and intermediate students start at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, but please bring at least one non-perishable food donation for Project MANA’s food bank. • Gallery showing. Pogan Gallery will be presenting its annual Small Painting Holiday Show through Jan. 6. The show will feature small paintings and new works by all of the gallery artists. Thursday Dec. 13 • Ski clinic at North Tahoe Physical Therapy Clinic. North Tahoe Physical Therapy hosts its annual pre-season ski clinic at 6:30 p.m. There will be demonstrations and practicing of strength, flexibility and conditioning exercises. The Village Ski Loft will provide useful information on the latest winter sports equipment, the Village Pharmacy will be informing participants on winter wellness and sports nutrition. • Good wine and company. The Pacific Crest Grill is celebrating the holidays by presenting a night of wine tastings from 4 to 6 p.m., as an introduction to organic, biodynamic and sustainable wines. In the holiday spirit, a suggested donation of $10 at the door will be collected for the Truckee Community Christmas, a non-profit umbrella organization that coordinates toy drives, food drives and coat donations during the holiday season. Saturday Dec. 15 • Holiday concert at the Thunderbird Lodge. The Sierra Nevada Guitar Society presents its annual Holiday concert featuring a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite in an arrangement for classical guitar quartet featuring Stephen Mattingly, Larry Aynesmith, Micah Dunn and Brian Stone at the Thunderbird Lodge starting at 4 p.m. Tickets are $50 a person, there will be a wine and hors d’ oeuvres reception and curator tour will follow the performance. • Sip and shop. The first annual sip and shop will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at The Village Center in Incline Village. There will be complimentary beverages and treats. Participating Village Center merchants are offering specials and donating to Parasol’s Holiday Giving Program. .
Sunday Dec. 16 • Magical Memories at the Resort. The Resort at Squaw Creek presents Magical Memories throughout the holiday season. Cascades restaurant offers breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 a.m. From 10 a.m. to noon a family snowman making competition will take place at the Nordic Yurt, followed by live music by Chuckwagon from noon to 4 p.m. at the Resort. • Santa’s Sled Day. Santa Claus will parade through Tahoe City on a fire truck with the North Tahoe High School Band, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Safeway Shopping Center. The parade ends at Granlibakken Resort, which offers free sledding for children from noon to 4 p.m.
Monday Dec. 17 • Monday Night Football at Crosby’s. Monday Night Football at Crosby’s. Diamond Peak is teaming up with Crosby’s to celebrate Monday Night Football. Every Monday night there will be a raffle and giveaways during the football game. After the game all raffle tickets will go back into a main pot for a gigantic raffle on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 3, 2008). For every drink that you purchase at Crosby’s, you’ll receive a raffle ticket to put into the pot. Crosby’s is located in the Christmas Tree Village in Incline Village. Tuesday Dec. 18 • Kwanza storytime and party. The Incline Village Library presents a special storytime about Kwanzaa for participants to learn how it is celebrated using stories and activities, followed by a holiday treat. The event is for all ages and will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. at the library.
• Storytime at the Tahoe City Library. The Tahoe City Library presents storytime about the holidays from 1 to 1:30 p.m. The library hosts storytime on Tuesdays from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m. The library is located at 740 North Lake Blvd. Call (530) 583-3382.
