Smack dab in the middle of Tahoe City is a quaint little piece of edible heaven. Italian inspired cuisine that takes advantage of seasonal Northern California ingredients make Fiamma Cucina Rustica a must hit spot on the Sierra dining circuit.

The Space
Fiamma’s dining room is stylish and elegantly designed. Booths line the walls, rotating art hangs on the walls, a three sided bar sits in the middle and café style tables and chairs reside outside within a lattice wood fence next to the Tahoe City sidewalk overlooking Lake Tahoe. The kitchen at Fiamma is open to the front of the house, giving diners a trusting closeness to the source of their dishes.

The Food
Fiamma’s menu is printed daily, and rotates whenever fresh regional ingredients are procured at various local farmers markets or as certain items come into season. Brand new Executive Chef Andrew Shimer will rotate creative seasonal dishes around a core of Italian inspired favorites such as the Linguini and clams with sliced garlic, cippolini onion and white wine sauce.

The Drinks
Fiamma not only has a full bar — including specialty cocktails like a Negroni Italian Martini with Plymouth Gin, Averna and sweet vermouth, the restaurant also stocks an extensive wine list with equal selections from Northern California and Italy. The very same list also includes a variety of ports, desert wines and aperitifs.

Gotta Try
With a seasonally rotating menu, there’s always something new to try out. But make sure to check out the pizzas. Fiamma’s dough is thin crusted and the toppings are creatively delicious with options such as a Port-soaked fig, caramelized onion, gorgonzola, arugula and Prosciutto di Parma pie.

Tidbit
Fiamma offers a great off–season happy hour for locals with half-priced appetizers, beer, wine and cocktails from 5:30 – 6:30 every evening. They also have rotating deserts, including Gelato made in house. While there is no listed kids menu, Fiamma does offer child friendly pasta dishes for its young patrons.

Price Range
Moderately expensive, with appetizers ranging from $9–$15 and entrées from $15–$30.

Hours
Open daily at 5:30 p.m.

Location
Right in the center of town at 521 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City.
