The 60-foot river boat paddle wheel throwback that offers daily cruises down Lake Tahoe’s West shore is not only a great way to see the lake, but it’s also one of the most picturesque dining options around.
The Space The Tahoe Gal is a 60-foot two story boat. It motors quietly along the West Shore and with a large outdoor deck complete with cocktail tables and chairs as well as an intimate sized indoor dining room with large windows on all sides, eating on the Gal offers diners perhaps the best view on Lake Tahoe. In fact, in reality it is the only view actually on the lake. With the entire dining room remodeled this last spring, it is an elegant, stylish and comfortable place to have dinner.
The Food While the menu on the Tahoe Gal is not huge, the food is delicious. Portabella Mushroom vegetarian entree, fresh salmon with a daily rotating sauce, Prime Rib, a couple of deserts and a handful of appetizers will make you forget you’re on a boat out in the middle of the lake.
The Drinks Along with remodeling the dining room, owner Larry Boerner also replaced some cabinets with a large wine rack, allowing him to up his wine list from about eight bottles to about 25 available for diners to choose from. And of course, the Tahoe Gal also offers a full bar with a few unique and delicious cocktails.
Tidbit Through the end of October, the Tahoe Gal not only offers sunset dinner cruises but also an Emerald Bay lunch cruise. Through the end of August look for a shorter, hour-and-a-half happy hour cruise along Tahoe’s North Shore. The classic boat also offers a scenic brunch cruise. Also offered are Sunday dinner and live music cruises and even a full moon cruise.
Gotta Try Try the Tahoe Gal, a fruity tasty vodka based cocktail sure to refresh on a beautiful summer evening. And keep an eye out for Monday night dinner and a show cruises. Aug. 20 is a comedy show and Aug. 27 will be a wine tasting event.
Price Range Entrees range from $20–$30. Most cruise tickets are around $30, so by the end of the evening a cruise, possible entertainment and dinner runs around $60 total.
Location Cruises depart the pier behind the Lighthouse Center in Tahoe City. 850 North Lake Blvd.
Hours of Operation Cruises run from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. depending on the day. Sunset dinner cruises depart the Lighthouse pier at 6:30 p.m.
