The Reno Pops Orchestra presents a musical Walking Tour of Europe at Portola High School in Portola, California on Saturday, May 17. The 7:00 pm concert features local Plumas County participants as well as the orchestra which played to full houses in Graeagle in 2005 and 2006. Conducted by Jane Brown, formerly of Quincy, and John Larrieu of Portola, we will accompany Jennifer Probst Gourley singing a Puccini aria and the Nightingales singing Ave Maria. Plumas County high school music students will join the orchestra in two or three of our selections, and several Plumas County residents who regularly play with the orchestra will perform also. Additional works on the program include Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Tschaikowsky’s 1812 Overture, Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz, Brahms’ Hungarian Dance #5, and selections from Bizet’s Carmen Suite.
