Boreal Mountain Resort hit another milestone by being named as one of North America’s top ten terrain parks by Fuel TV in May of 2006. Featured on the 10 Count (a weekly show viewed in 22 million US homes that lists various “bests” within the realm of youth action sports), Boreal was the only resort featured from the Tahoe region in May of 2006.
10 Count recognized Boreal as a resort with deep snowboarding roots, offering one of the first terrain parks in the country. “It just makes me think of the history of snowboarding,” said Jeremy Jones, professional snowboarder.
Highlights from 10 Count also included several pros and snowboard industry representatives commenting on the unique aspects of Boreal’s terrain park, which include innovative terrain park features, motivation to open early, and the mountain’s diehard enthusiasm for making snowboarding fun.
“They are usually the first mountain to open in the Tahoe area, and they always set up a number of jibs and little jumps, and oftentimes you will find [pro snowboarder] Blaise Rosenthal sessioning those jumps until they pull him off the slopes,” said Gabe Taylor, professional snowboarder. “Everybody in Tahoe has got to go session Boreal… you have to give it to Boreal for always having that stuff up and being one of the first mountains to offer those kinds of features,” he added. Famous for prioritizing park ingenuity, Boreal will enter into its second year of partnership with industry-wide recognized terrain park engineer, Eric Rosenwald.
