The 11th Annual Nautique Gates and Wakes Fun Day and Pro Challenge, a unique California–style event held on the slopes and in the water on the same day, takes place at Squaw Valley and on blue waters of Lake Tahoe.

Gates and Wakes was created by West Coast Correct Craft’s Vice-president, Bob Bense. “What a great day — to be on both the slopes and the water within the same time frame,” Bense said. Partners Correct Craft and Alpine Meadows helped me make this dream a reality eleven season ago. It’s a great way to close one ski season and start another.”

The overwhelming success of the past six years’ events has allowed over $25,000 to be donated to the Disabled Sports USA Association.

Due to lack of snow, this year’s ski event will not be held at Alpine Meadows but as a poker run at Squaw Valley. Participants will stop at four locations on their way down the hill where they will get playing cards. Participants will get the fifth card during the water ski event and the best hands will earn a chance to win from a selection of prizes.
Water skiers who choose to participate in the two-round slalom event will also be competing for the coveted Gates and Wakes trophy.

Slalom water skiing will take place on Saturday, May 4 and the rest of the event on May 5.
