Catch the Craze with Spring Craze: Squaw Valley’s Innagural Spring Break Weekend Celebration
Squaw Valley USA is proud to announce the newest addition to the spring line up, Spring Craze weekend April 13-15, 2007. Spring Craze features live concerts, on snow competitions and exhibitions, pool/hot tub parties and discounted lift tickets, to boot. A celebration of classic corn snow and fun under the sun, Spring Craze is Squaw Valley’s interpretation of spring break and reminder that winter isn't over - it's just warming up!
Spring Craze kicks off Friday, April 13 with a $39 online adult all day lift ticket special. The $39 discounted Spring Craze lift tickets are available for advance purchase online at www.squawshop.com.
Headlining the concerts for Spring Craze is San Francisco's Tea Leaf Green live show in the historic Olympic Village Lodge on Friday, April 13 at 9 pm. San Francisco's bustling Tea Leaf Green delivers fresh, mind blowing live performances of rock n roll and soul. This band plays sold out shows in major cities from coast to coast. On tour with their latest release, Rock ‘n’ Roll Band (Oct ’06), Tea Leaf Green honors a long lineage of rock bands that came before them and has shared the bills with the Dave Mathews Band, Trey Anastasio, Gov’t Mule and Bruce Hornsby. Tickets are $10 in advance and $13 the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased online at squawshop.com or in person at Squaw Valley's Special Ticket office. Doors open at 8 pm, show starts at 9 pm. Spring Craze features live music and DJ’s galore all weekend long. Zenbu features live performances by MisFritz, O.C.T. on Friday night (April 13) and Johnny Love Vodka and DJ on Saturday night (April 14). The Benneys play a free show in the Village at 3 pm on Saturday and DJ Rebel Soul spins his love at the pool party at High Camp beginning at noon (April 14).
Saturday Toyota’s Sick & Twisted Freestyle Series brings a competitive edge to Spring Craze with $2,000 in prize money up for grabs. Sick & Twisted is an open amateur comp with men’s and women’s, ski and snowboard classes. Registration begins at 8 am and the comp begins at 11 am. An award celebration will follow at High Camp’s Swimming Lagoon and Spa. Note to competitors: helmets are mandatory . . . and bikini/board shorts are encouraged for post comp, pool party antics. Spring Craze hosts Tahoe’s highest pool party at el. 8,200’. The heat turns up at High Camp’s Swimming Lagoon and Spa on Saturday (April 14), starting at noon. DJ Rebel Soul and the famous umbrella bar keep the party hopping and the spring vibe alive. Spring Crazers can shred the mountain in the morning and spend the afternoon poolside, sipping on a cold one until 4 pm. Highlighting the pool party is the Big Splash, Big Air Tow-In Expo, taking place in view from the pool on Baileys Beach. The industry’s best freestyle junkies put on a show as they get towed in, via snowmobile, and spin, soar, and impress off a giant, custom-built kicker.
Sunday starts swinging with the Spring Schwing Golf Tournament at High Camp. Teams of two compete for luxurious prizes on this world-class, 5-hole, on-snow golf course. Prizes include rounds of golf at Coyote Moon, Wolf Run and the Incline Mountain Course, to name a few. Registration begins at 8 am and tee off is at 10 am. All contestants receive a complimentary poolside BBQ lunch at High Camp’s Lagoon and Spa following the tournament.
Back for the 17th consecutive year, the Lake Cushing Classic Pond Crossing is scheduled for Sunday, April 15. Come to the base of KT-22 and watch as dare-devils attempt to cross the frigid (ice cold) waters of Lake Cushing on skis, snowboards, or the self-constructed pond crossing vessel of their choice. These competitors aren’t afraid to try anything or wear anything to get the judges' attention. 1st Prize: 07-08 Midweek Season Pass.
