Brazilian beat comes to benefit bash
The percussion-driven music moved everyone onto the dance floor, feeling like they were thousands of miles away in South America. SambaDa, the Santa Cruz-based Brazilian samba-reggae-funk band was in town for the Disabled Sports USA Far West 13th annual “Benefit Bash.”
Approximately 350 supporters of the non-profit organization that has an adaptive ski school at Alpine Meadows Ski Area converged at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach last Saturday evening for a fundraising event which featured fine wine and microbrew tasting, hors d’oeuvres and desserts, a silent auction and balloon raffle, and of course lots of dancing. The well-attended event raised approximately $40,000 for the disabled sports organization’s coffers, not bad for a single night of revelry!
Sally Carey was the big winner of the 18-hole championship golf club membership at Timilick.
The crowd was comprised of a mix of guests from both the Sacramento area and Tahoe-Truckee which included such local folks as Matt Locati and Heather Arst, Patti and Al Multon, Trinkie Watson and Jean Ludwick, Kim McAhren, Peggy Headley, Debbie White, Michelle Gartner, Joan Rickward, Steve Wallis, Lee Baker, Jamie La Chance, Benita Luke and Greg Tiller, and Julie Conover, to name a few.
