Since 1999 the best skiers in the world have descended on Lake Tahoe to see if they have what it takes to compete in the Winter X-Games. Now, seven years later, both skiers and snowboarders are gearing up to see if they can capture the final coveted invites for the 2007 Winter X-Games.

For most extreme athletes, an invitation to Winter X is the highest honor in their individual sport. When 2007 rolls around, all eyes will once again be on Sugar Bowl as those athletes who want to qualify for the upcoming games will be going head to head at the Jabra X-Jam.

The Jabra X-Jam, takes place January 12-14 atop the famed Mt. Judah at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort. Produced by Global Event Management the Jabra X-Jam features male and female competitors in both the ski and snowboard categories, and is free to the public and open to all competitors.

The event is similar to a Motorcycle Super-cross, but on snow, and focuses on the speed and agility of competitors as they make their way down a custom made course winding downhill slope littered with s-curves, table tops, banks, berms and whoops. Success depends on speed and race tactics and can get aggressive as riders and skiers battle it out for the front position. On Friday all skiers and boarders will have a timed run for qualifying and then on Saturday and Sunday there will be heats of six athletes at a time and the top three from each will move on until there is a winner.

Past athletes who earned invitations to the X Games at the Jabra X-Jam include 4 time Olympian and X Games Gold Medalist Casey Pucket, as well as 3 time X Games gold medalist Lindsey Jacobellis, Eric Archer, Hiromi Takizawa and Pat Holland.

"With an ever increasing pool of talent, we have created this event to give all competitors a fair chance to earn an invitation to the Winter X Games, based on proven results, not on self-promotion,” said Chris Schuster, President of Global Event Management.

“We guarantee that the 2007 Jabra X-Jam at Sugar Bowl will feature the best athletes ever assembled in a non-invitational format.”
