Listen up parents, you have a serious decision to make about how much fun you and the kids will have on Saturday. It’s October, it’s pumpkin patch season, and just about every community in the North Shore and Truckee has its own pumpkin patch event Oct. 21. Don’t visit just one. Make a day out of it and road trip to all of them. Start in Truckee and work your way up river to Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. Then make your way to Incline Village. Or start in Incline to hit all the points in the triangle.

INCLINE VILLAGE

The Incline Village Nursery School’s 27th annual Pumpkin Patch will sprout on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Incline Elementary 3-5 School multi-purpose room located at Northwood Boulevard and Village.

This festive event is open to the entire community and will feature a wide selection of pumpkins for sale (including painted pumpkins), delicious food from local restaurants and the greatest bake sale of the season. Kids will enjoy carnival games, bounce houses, balloons, face painting and a spirited clown. In addition, there will be raffle prizes, cakewalks, and a contest to win a giant pumpkin. So come on down for a spooky good time at the Pumpkin Patch, admission is free — and to add to the fun, come in costume.

The Pumpkin Patch is one of two annual fundraising efforts hosted by the Incline Village Nursery School. Proceeds support educational efforts and operations of the school. Last year, the Pumpkin Patch event helped to raise funds used to procure new playground equipment. Local businesses that may wish to sponsor the Pumpkin Patch event are encouraged to contact Gina Wiebe at (775) 376-3043 for sponsorship information.

The Incline Village Nursery School is in its 36th year of operation and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. There are currently openings in the preschool program. For information about the school or enrollment, please contact director Barbara Moniot at (775) 831-4040 or email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it

TRUCKEE

The Parent/Teacher Organization at Truckee Elementary hosts its annual Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Ghosts and witches of all ages and their parents are encouraged to attend this festive event in costume. This event is open to the entire community and will feature carnival games, miniature golf, pony rides, a petting zoo, a bounce house, pumpkins for sale, as well as food booths, and a visit by Woody the Clown.

The Pumpkin Patch is one of the main sources of income for the PTO and proceeds from the event are used to benefit the school in the form of contributions to each individual classroom for supplies they may need throughout the year. Last year the PTO contributed $30,000 back to the school, funding a wide variety of projects such as the beautification of the school’s grounds, assemblies for the students, intensive individual instruction for those students in need, snowshoes for the physical education classes, and even new American flags. So come one, come all, for a howling good time and lots of Halloween fun. Local businesses that may wish to sponsor the Pumpkin Patch event, whether in cash or in kind, are encouraged to contact Sandy Morris at (530) 550-8976 or This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it for sponsorship information.
