The Space
Walk in the door of Peluso’s Apizza and the smells don’t lie. Somethin’ good is in that oven! For the last 24 years Peluso’s Apizza has been a North Lake favorite having opened their first west coast “Apizza” restaurant in Kings Beach in 1984.
What’s “Apizza” you ask? Its just that. “Apizza” (pronounced Ah Pizza) is a traditional Italian word that means “a pizza.”

A whole new neighborhood can delight in Peluso’s Apizza tradition these days as their Truckee location started spinning dough in October. Located in The Rock commercial complex, the Truckee restaurant is geared towards carry-out or delivery, but does have indoor and outdoor seating if your looking to relax for a slice or two.

With little decorative fanfare, you’ll find everything you came looking for at Peluso’s straight ahead of the door — a deli case of hot slices, a menu full of endless options, and a case of cold drinks.

The Food
Peluso’s apizzas are famous for their delicate and delectable crust. Medium thin and flaky sweet, the savory crust comes from a dough recipe that is a decade’s old derivative of a family pastry business. Perusing the apizza menu there’s no shortage of recommended topping combinations.

Peluso’s offers 35 specialty apizzas split into four categories (chicken, seafood, vegetarian, and meats). While a few are mere classics, most of the specialties are unique, if not downright adventurous. Check out the Tuscan which features bacon, peas, mushrooms, and mozzarella. Apizzas come in two sizes, 12” and 16”, with the smaller size ranging from $12-19 dollars and the larger size between $15 to 26 dollars.

There’s more to the menu at Peluso’s than just apizzas however. $10 pasta dinners like baked stuffed shells and $7 toasted subs called Grinders round out the fare. The sandwiches are big, easily a lunch and a half for all but those eager beavers capable of devouring a log sized sub in one sitting.

The Drinks
You can wash down your slice or sandwich with an assortment of waters, teas, and fountain drinks. As of press time Peluso’s was hopeful that their beer and wine license would be approved sometime this summer so look forward to grabbing a frosty brew to go with that apizza soon.

Gotta Try
Don’t miss the Apizza Bella. The vegetarian pie is a Peluso's favorite with spinach, tomatoes, garlic and mozzarella topped with basil oil. If you’ve got a fancy for seafood go for the Clams Florentine apizza with clams, spinach and mozzarella on a lemon parmigiana white sauce.

Starving and low on cash?
The massive meatball, peppers and mozzarella grinder (toasted sub) is your winning ticket.

Tidbit
Peluso’s apizzas are available for pick-up, delivery, and take-and-bake. “You bake” prices are the same as baked but minus the tax.
Currently Peluso's Truckee location delivers to downtown Truckee, Northstar, Prosser and Sierra Meadows. Plans are in the works to expand delivery service to Glenshire soon.

Hours of Operation
Peluso’s Spring hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sundays. Delivery available from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Location
Peluso’s Apizza has two locations — 8160 N.Lake Blvd in Kings Beach and 11253 Brockway Road, #104 at The Rock commercial complex in Truckee, Calif.
