Different Strokes Kayaking Offers Free Whitewater Clinics May 10th and 11th

Not only is this year’s Reno River Festival a chance to see the best kayakers in the world go head to head in some fierce whitewater competition, it’s also a chance for spectators to get a little wet and wild during the free whitewater clinics provided by Different Strokes Kayaking (DSK). From beginner-level courses to advanced techniques and classes for those with mobility and sight impairments, attendees can learn from the best at the 5th annual Reno River Festival May 9 – 11, 2008 at the Truckee River Whitewater Park in the heart of downtown Reno.

Free whitewater clinics take place from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10th; and from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, May 11th. The following is a list of clinics that will take place over the course of the weekend:

Eddy Line Techniques: Basic maneuvers such as peel-outs, eddy turns, ferrying and sturns are introduced to boaters.

ADVANCED
Intro to Playboating: Kayakers learn freestyle boating maneuvers such as squirts, nose stands, flat spins and front surfing during this advanced clinic.

Advanced Techniques: Veteran kayakers learn perfecting techniques in this course taught by highly-skilled boaters.

SPECIAL ACCESS
