Wednesday, April 9
•  Spring Speaker Series at Lake Tahoe School. The Lake Tahoe School wishes to invite the public to its Spring Speaker Series. At 6 p.m. Dr. Stephanie Riley will go beyond the food pyramid and teach participants how to optimize health and performance with food choices and eating habits. Dr. Riley specializes in children and women’s health and environmental medicine. The speech will take place at the Lake Tahoe School, located at 995 Tahoe Blvd., in Incline Village. •  Nursery School registration. Tahoe Community Nursery School will hold a pre-registration for the new school year from March 31-April 11. Parents can come by the school to register Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, call (530) 583 3331.

Thursday, April 10
•  Environmental Education Symposium. The symposium will introduce, support and congratulate experiential education projects happening in the Tahoe Basin, focusing on the issues of: Water Quality, Defensible Space, Climate Change in the Sierras, BMPs, Bear Awareness and Invasive Weeds.  The event will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences on the Sierra Nevada College campus located at 291 Country Club Dr. in Incline Village.

•  Participation in the Electoral Process. California Secretary of State, Debra Bowen, will speak about the electoral process, voter turnout numbers and raising a generation of active and engaged citizens at the Resort at Squaw Creek at 7 p.m. For more information, call (530) 581-4138.

Friday, April 11
•  Poetry Slam. Local poets will stand and deliver for a chance to take home the title of Tahoe Slam Poet of the Year at the Sierra Nevada College Poetry Slam starting at 7 p.m. in Patterson Hall at Sierra Nevada College. •  Music Together. Tahoe Children’s Foundation music classes are for young children (babies to 4 years) and their parents and caregivers. The classes feature songs, chants, movement activities and instrumental jam sessions. For more information call (775) 232-4554.

.•  Souper Bowl Fundraiser. Creekside PTO, Inc.’s Annual Fundraiser will take place at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach at 6 p.m. The proceeds of this fundraiser benefit many local organizations. Tickets are $45/adults and $38/youth.

Saturday, April 12
•  Peaks & Lagoons. Squaw Valley USA is hosting Peaks & Lagoons, a weekend-long celebration April 12-13.  There will be live hip hop at the High Camp pool, Toyota Sick & Twisted half pipe and rail jam and snowboard, surf and skate legends making history at the Ultimate Boarder Competition. •  Tiki-Cup. Sugar Bowl Ski Resort features a Tiki-Cup theme day. Visit www.sugarbowl.com.

•  Reel Talk. Adults are invited from 2 to 5 p.m. to the Incline Village Library and screen the movie “The Graduate” based on the book of the same name by Charles Webb. The library is located at 845 Alder Ave., in Incline Village.€

Sunday, April 13
•  Diamond Peak. Diamond Peak Ski Resort will host a community and passholder appreciation day to end its season.

•  Nevada Week for Animals. A statewide celebration to build awareness and mobilize action on behalf of all animals in the Silver State and the Lake Tahoe area. For information, visit  www.network.bestfriends.org/nvweek

•  Telemark Camp at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Those interested in learning, improving or perfecting their telemark technique are invited to participate in Northstar Resort’s one-day Telemark Camps starting at 10 a.m. Participation is $119. For more information, visit www.NorthstaratTahoe.com.
