Wednesday, March 5


Dance Dance Revolution! The Incline Village Library brings back Dance Dance Revolution! from 4 to 5 p.m. The event is for middle and high school ages and will host a competition featuring the popular dance video game Dance Dance Revolution. Women’s clinic. Northstar Resort hosts a women’s clinic March 5-7, offering all-inclusive three-day courses focused on health, wellness, camaraderie and skiing. The clinics are taught by Northstar Resort’s top certified female instructors, camps include three days of instruction, demo equipment, lunch, video analysis, yoga classes, wine tasting and appetizers, an equipment class and coffee each morning. Ladies’ Night at the Biltmore. Every Wednesday is Ladies’ Night at the Biltmore in Crystal Bay. Women get half-price drink specials from 5-9 p.m. and there will be dancing with music provided by DJ Remmell.

$10 Homewood tickets. Season pass holders from any other mountain can now receive Homewood Mountain Resort lift tickets for just $10 every Thursday. Simply present your 2007/2008 season pass at any Homewood lift ticket window to receive a $10 full-day adult lift ticket every Thursday starting Feb. 28. Alpenglow Sports Winter Film Series. Stop by the Sawtooth Ridge Café in Tahoe City on Thursday, March 6 to hear local climber and Film Series organizer Dave Nettle tell stories and show photos from one of his many adventures. Watch “King Corn” to support Nutrition Coalition. Join the Slow Food Lake Tahoe chapter for an exciting journey into America's heartland and the country's most subsidized crop — corn. This is an opportunity to support the Nutrition Coalition as well as gain insights about the most prominent item in most of our diet and learn about the new Slow Food Lake Tahoe chapter. Friday, March 7

SnowFest! Toga Party. The Tahoe Biltmore hosts a free Toga Party at 9 p.m. with music by Public Eye. Step into a Roman-themed paradise complete with grapes for feeding your friends, toga-themed drink specials, games and trivia quizzes to test your party knowledge. Prizes for best costume and best dressed couple. Anyone wearing a toga gets their first drink for free!

Tahoe Adventure Film Festival. Set for Friday, March 7 in the Alpine Meadows base lodge, the Tahoe Adventure Film Festival aims to keep restless natives satisfied with adventure sport film segments and independent video productions. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., films from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 or $15 for dinner and the films. See www.SkiAlpine.com for details.

Maya Yoga Workshop. Tahoe Yoga & Wellness Center presents a Maya Yoga Weekend Workshop with Nicki Doane and Eddie Modestini March 7-9. Doane and Modestini will teach participants to explore Sun Salutations to create heat and to understand Vinyasa, create understanding of the foundations of yoga practice and teach meditative practices. Free aviation movie. The Truckee Tahoe chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association will screen “The Battle of Britain” for free at EAA headquarters (in Truckee at the end of Airport Road, turn Right – EAA is the last building on the left). Door opens at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at 6:15 p.m. and runs for 2 hours, 22 minutes. Open to the public. Historic airplanes, fearless flying and combat scenes, all supported by a star-studded cast, makes this epoch movie one of the best portrayals of aerial combat during World War II.

Saturday, March  8

Second Annual Blues Summit. The Crystal Bay Casino presents the Second Annual Blues Summit featuring two great bands: Roy Rogers & the Delta Rhythm Kings opening for Marcia Ball. Show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $22 in advance, $25 day of show. Call (775) 833-6333 for tickets and more information.

Reel Talk. The film “Frankenstein” is based on the book “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley. While this version does veer from the book, it is the classic movie with Boris Karloff creating an unforgettable Frankenstein monster. Can a 75-year-old black-and-white film still entertain you? Yes, it’s alive! Alive! Stop by the Incline Village Library from 2-5 p.m. and find out. Recommended for adults.

Diamond Peak Poker Run. Diamond Peak is hosting a first-ever poker run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ski or ride to different locations on the hill and pick up a card. Best hand wins at the end of the day. Registration at 9 a.m. with a $10 entry fee which includes a T-shirt. Barbecue and prizes on the deck afterwards. Call (775) 832-1120 for details.


Sunday, March 9

Nature hike. Explore the Donner Memorial State Park nature trail and part of Coldstream Valley with hike leader Kathy Mansfield at 11 a.m. Learn how the plants and animals adapt to life in the snow. The hike is about 2 miles and includes moderate hiking. The $6 parking fee includes museum entry. For information call (530) 582-7892.

Pinball Rally. Northstar Resort features its freestyle event slopestyle, in its Pinball Rally series. Participation is $10 per event. Divisions include men/women, skiers/riders, 14 and under/15 and over. Winners can take home medals and great prizes and all participants have a chance to score prizes from a killer raffle. Registration takes place from 10 a.m. to noon. All competitors must sign a waiver, a parent or legal guardian's signature is required for competitors under 18. Snowshoe Series for Runners. Northstar Resort will host the inaugural Snowshoe Series for Runners, Walkers and Kids. Three separate courses, designed by Peter Fain, Atlas Snowshoe Racing Team Member, will include a 5K Fun Walk Run, a 10K Competitive Run and a 1K Kid’s Rising Star Rumble. Participation is $25 in advance for 5K and 10K competitors and $35 day of the event. Kids participating in the Rising Star Rumble are $15. Monday, March 10

Sugar Bowl in March. Throughout the month of March, Sugar Bowl Ski Resort offers free lessons and rentals Monday through Friday with the purchase of an all-day lift ticket (ages 13 to 69 years). For more information, visit www.sugarbowl.com

New volunteer orientation at Pet Network. Pet Network Animal Friends of Nevada will be holding a new volunteer orientation at 5 p.m., located at 401 Village Blvd. There will be sign up sheets available for those who would like to play with cats and dogs as well as the opportunity to sign up for 16 other fun and interesting volunteer opportunities. Be a Champion Ski Race and Party. The event will take place at Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe. Public races are based on format and best combined times. For more information, visit www.mtrose.com

Siduri Winery Dinner. PlumpJack Cafe presents its winery dinner with exclusive, one-on-one table service from a representative from Siduri winery, paired menu items from the PlumpJack Cafe, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The regular menu is also available this evening. Winemaker Dinner. Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort presents a Winemaker Dinner Series at the Lone Eagle Grille. Held on the second Tuesday of every month at 6 p.m., the series showcases renowned regional wineries and Lone Eagle Grille’s signature cuisine. Each label’s winemaker attends the dinner, visiting guests’ tables to provide tasting notes and answer questions. The Winemaker Dinner Series will feature Napa Valley-based winery, ZD Wines.
