The Tahoe City Downtown Association is pleased to announce that the Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade will take place on Saturday, March 1, in downtown Tahoe City. The parade will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on North Lake Blvd.

The Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade has long been one of the premier events during SnowFest! The Tahoe City SnowFest! Parade will include all of the crowd-pleasing entries that have made it a favorite. Expect to see the award winning Kiwanis Precision Snow Shovel Drill Team as they perform their well-choreographed routines. Music will abound with bands such as West Shore Properties’ Sam & the Butchers, Jake’s on the Lake and The NTHS Jazz Ensemble.

The Sierra Hot Stix Drill Team will be back this year, performing with fiberglass “Hot Sticks” used to work on energized electric lines. The Railroad Regulators will be up to their old antics, shooting guns (blanks of course), and causing mayhem and havoc. The Vulcans have traveled all the way from St. Paul to join us again. And, of course, our very own Miners will be making an appearance. Watch out for the black soot!

“I’m excited to see all of the old favorites come back this year,” said Karen Willcuts, Parade Coordinator. “We also have a bunch of new entries and a lot more floats this year. This is going to be a great parade.”

Road closure:
Please note that North Lake Blvd will be closed on parade day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A detour will not be available until approximately noon. The street will be closed from Safeway to the wye. Parking will also be limited.

Kings Beach Stationary Night Lighted Parade
Friday, March 7, 5:30 to 8 p.m.
Kings Beach State Recreation Area, downtown Kings Beach
SnowFest! invites you to experience a couple of new additions to this year’s festival line-up. A spectacular snow sculpture will be created by local artists and a new, lighted stationary parade has been added, each to be unveiled on Friday, March 7 following Java Hut’s Dodgeball Tournament. The snow sculpture and parade will both be located at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area in Kings Beach.
Come on down and view these great “lighted” floats, and enjoy some Hot Chocolate from Java Hut, along with cookies and treats provided by John and Julie of the Brockway Bakery. Enjoy some treats and the great view at night at the Beach in Winter.

The SnowFest! Snow Sculpture will be created by local artist, Jeremiah Johnson and his team of expert snow molders. Although the actual design is being kept a closely guarded secret, small details have been leaked. Reportedly, the sculpture will be big and tall and fictitious creatures may be involved.

At the new, lighted stationary parade. A stationary parade is one in which the entries or participants do not move, instead the audience wanders around and among the exhibits. Each entry will be lighted so as to have a different perspective than you might have if seen during the day. Most of the entries will also be featured (not lit) in either the Tahoe City or Kings Beach parades.

“I have wanted to have a night lighted parade for so long,” said Ruth Schnabel, SnowFest director. “The ones I’ve experienced have been so stunning and dramatic. This is something the whole family will enjoy.”
