Wednesday, Feb. 20 • Winter Carnival at The Rock. The Rock will host a free family-themed event from 3 to 6 p.m. This free event is designed to entertain everyone in the family with carnival games, science projects with the “Mad Scientist” from the KidZone, prizes, popcorn, marshmallow roasting, a Magician performing throughout the event, an outdoor climbing wall and more. The Rock is located off Highway 267 directly adjacent to the Old Brockway Golf Course, at 11197 Brockway Rd. For more information, call (530) 582-4623.
• Lake Tahoe Adventure Film Series. The Back Country presents an adventure film series every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Bar One, in Squaw Valley. This week, special guest Kris Erickson will feature photos from mountaineering some of the highest peaks in the world.
Thursday, Feb. 21 • Everest and Beyond. Alpenglow Sports Winter Speaker Series presents Dean Cardinale at 7 p.m. at the Sawtooth Ridge Café, in Tahoe City. This show will have a raffle with proceeds benefitting the Tahoe Women Services. Cardinale will take listeners around the world climbing mountains, on African safaris and mountain gorilla tracking. • Toastmasters. Improve your speaking and communication skills by joining Toastmasters in Incline Village. The theme for this meeting is “Super Bowl,” and will take place from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Chateau, located at 955 Fairway Blvd. Toastmasters is meant for participants to gain confidence in public speaking.
