Live music at Alpine Alpine Meadows Ski Resort offers live music, fun competition and great prizes this winter. Classic favorites and first-time additions guarantee an action-packed day on the slopes for spectators and competitors alike.
Gather in the Alpine Meadows Base Lodge on Thursday, Dec. 27 for a free performance from local band Frame of Mind from 2 to 5 p.m. Visit frameofmindlive.com to hear the sounds of the band.
Groovy acoustic jams from Soul Jibe will fill Alpine’s Base Lodge from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 for the après-ski and ride hour. This is a free performance and will be sure to entertain everyone.
Superpipe at Boreal Mountain Resort Boreal has gained a reputation for providing a superpipe with spot-on specs. 450’ in length, 18.5’ high walls and a consistent slope grade of 15 degrees qualifies Boreal’s superpipe as an Olympic-caliber terrain park feature. Sponsor demo day Alpenglow Sports has partnered with Alpine Meadows Ski Resort to provide a free Telemark and Alpine Touring Demo Event. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. The goal of the event is to provide a forum to perpetuate the passion and excitement surrounding telemark and alpine touring skiing in the Tahoe area. All major sales representatives will be on hand with their affiliated demo fleets. Participating companies include k2, Black Diamond, G3, Atomic, Rossignol, Scarpa, Garmont, Dynafit and Karhu. Additional support will be garnered by Babes in the Backcountry. Demos are free but a driver’s license and credit card are required for a deposit.
Participants must either purchase a lift ticket from Alpine Meadows, or possess a valid season pass. A free raffle for demo participants will be held at Alpenglow in Tahoe City after the event. Prizes include skis, bindings, clothing and avalanche safety items.

Winter Trails Snowshoe Program Join the Tahoe Rim Trail Association for its third year out on the trails in the snow. Its snowshoe events are great for new-timers, old-timers and the entire family to try snow sports and to discover the great fitness and social benefits with the easy-to-learn winter sport of snowshoeing.

Babes in the Backcountry women’s telemark ski camp Enjoy a day at Alpine learning new skills, demoing women’s specific equipment, hanging with the local free heel babes on Jan. 5-6 at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. Top instructors from Babes In The Backcountry and Alpine Meadows will help you take your skills the next level. Wrap up the day with an informal après gathering. The cost is $200 per person includes full day lesson, lift ticket, demo equipment (check for availability), après ski, morning yoga and gear prizes. Sugarbowl clinics Sugar Bowl’s Mountain Sports Learning Center (MSLC) is offering three one-day camps with focus specially designed for active, energetic women who are eager to improve their skiing and snowboarding skills on Jan.25-26 and March 7-8 at Sugarbowl Ski Resort. Sugar Bowl’s women’s clinic is geared to those with prior ski or snowboard experience who are looking to build their confidence (for ages 16 and older). Each day clinic includes a morning yoga session, four hours of on-the-snow training with Sugar Bowl’s top female certified instructors, lunch, wine tasting and massages for only $140 per day or $240 for two days. Snowbomb Sick & Twisted Big Air Start of the New Year right: in the air. The Toyota Sick n' Twisted Freestyle Tour comes to Alpine Meadows on Saturday, Jan. 5. Competition categories include men’s and women’s ski and snowboard; both pro and amateur. Snowbomb will have many prizes for the Sick & Twisted champions. Entry is $10 for amateurs, $25 for pros plus lift ticket or pass. Registration will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Alpine Meadows Base Lodge, competition starts at noon. Helmets are required of all participants/competitors, minors must have a parent or guardian sign their release forms.
Women’s ski and snowboard clinic Northstar Resort is taking its women’s camps to the next level this season, offering all-inclusive three-day courses focused on health, wellness, camaraderie and of course, skiing on Jan. 9-11 at Northstar Ski Resort. The camps will be taught by Northstar Resort’s top certified female instructors, camps include three days of instruction, demo equipment, lunch, video analysis, yoga classes, wine tasting and appetizers, an equipment class and coffee each morning. North American Ski Training The Northstar Resort Ski and Snowboard School is proud to welcome and to offer clinic programs presented by the North American Ski Training Center from Jan. 16-18. Truckee-based NASTC is a high-performance ski school for intermediate, advanced and expert skiers offering multi-day, total-immersion courses 28 times a year at 18 resorts world-wide. All of their courses are led by The Professional Ski Instructors of America’s Demonstration Team members and American Mountain Guide Association.
Courses include lift ticket, video, review, classroom sessions, dinner and swag bag. If you are an advanced skier or even an intermediate looking for real adventure, this is your chance to truly improve your skiing.

Jeep King of the Mountain and music Squaw Valley hosts the Jeep King of the Mountain and Base Camp Music Experience Feb. 8-10. While the world's top ski and snowboard racers, including many current and future Olympians, hit the snow in pursuit of ski cross and snowboard cross crowns, the action will be complemented by a weekend-long Base Camp Music Experience, designed to celebrate the mountain culture through music acts, fashion shows, film and photography exhibits, environmental awareness symposiums and other cross-cultural initiatives.
A sampling of the well-known performers on the slate for the new series include Macy Gray, Blackalicious, Swollen Members, Danielia Cotton, Dirtie Blond, Steven Kellogg and the Sixers and many more. Snowbomb Sundays In The Park Alpine Meadows presents the Snowbomb Sundays In The Park, a season-long competition each Sunday in the Alpine Meadows Terrain Park, starting Jan. 28. Open to skiers and snowboarders who can’t get enough terrain park action. Registration is free.

Note: Sunday, Feb. 17 and Sunday, Feb. 24 there will not be a Sunday In The Park. It will resume on Sunday, March 2. 2nd Annual Disabled Sports Ski Challenge Mark your calendars for Feb. 8 and take part in the Second Annual Disabled Sports Ski Challenge being held at Alpine Meadows Resort.
The “Ski Challenge” highlights the capabilities of people with disabilities while raising funds to support life-changing programs. This year’s event will include a team ski race, an exciting poker run and an après ski party held in Alpine Meadows’ lodge overlooking the slopes. Each team will include a disabled skier offering a close-up view of the remarkable skills possessed by our Disabled Sports participants.
