Mark your calendars for a Dec. 5 special Tahoe Comedy North show on Wednesday night. Because of a prior commitment for the Ozomatli concert the Crown Room will not be available on Tuesday night. The Dec. 5 show features Headliner Jason Resler with Justin McClure and host Dan Wilson.

Jason Resler
• Dont forget to check out a Q&A with Jason at the bottom of this article •

With a youthful grin shining through his generation-X facade, Jason has been delighting comedy audiences with his quick wits, clever material, and colorful characters since the late 1990s. A multi-dimensional performer Jason takes the crowd on a ride delivering razor sharp lines of deadpan cynicism in the midst of high energy charisma. His comedy derived from real life experience and the everyday nuances of that life.

Born and raised in the baseball heavy cow town of Sacramento, yet despite his love of the game, by age 13 Jason was convinced by coaches that he would probably never be able to hit a curveball. This created a dilemma and under the pressure of his school’s "career day" he decided his new dream was to be a professional stand-up comic. He was so extremely shy and reserved as an adolescent that the decision seemed out of character by those who knew Jason best. But they did not know about the journal full of comedic material that Jason had kept well hidden within his mind. His parents worried and cautioned him to have something solid to "fall back on"... a good job working in the coal mines perhaps?

Jason left Nor Cal for the East coast at an early age, returning home as a well decorated Navy veteran of the Desert Strom War. He then worked briefly as a sports columnist for a local paper, a sheet metal fabricator, and as a postal worker... A vet who grew increasingly more liberal following his discharge, Jason had numerous run-ins with management, the lack of management, and other misinformed individuals. Following repeated encouragement from his co-workers Jason finally left the security of the mines to share his thoughts, views, and stories on comedy stages across the country.

Now, one of the most respected acts within the business, Jason was ranked among "America’s Top Touring Comedians" by the Entertainment Business Journal, he has performed improv onstage with Robin Williams, and his debut comedy album "Road Comic" can be heard on XM Satellite Radio.

With a strong following of loyal fans in the Northern California and Reno area that is now reaching up to the Northwest and down to the Southwest, Jason has an act that grabs your attention, keeps it, and makes you want to hear more...

What are people saying about Jason:
"So funny he actually gets paid for it" — R.E. Graswich, Sacramento Bee
"Several laughs per minute" — Elk Grove Citizen
"Sharp, smart material that kept the crowd in hysterics" — Sacramento News & Review
"His material has taken one-liners to the next level" — Record Courier
"Very funny stuff, no really, very funny stuff" — Dave Attell
"He's sniffing the wrong kind of glue" — Will Durst

Justin McClure

Originally from Georgia, Justin McClure is more energy than a lightning bolt coming out of a nuclear power plant and more likeable than a Abba disco cd at a gay pride parade.

His affable presence and caustic rapid-fire wit make him an immediate fan favorite wherever he goes. Displaying unique energy and an infectious personality, Justin is as original as he is hilarious. In the Bay Area he is known as one of the hardest working comedians on the scene and can be found evolving humor almost every night of the week. Making the artisitc choice to work clean or edgy, his prodigious range of material deal with everything from observations of life, personal life experiences, and edgy ramblings.

Justin has performed at clubs, theaters, colleges all across the country and has performed with some of the top talent in the industry.

Dan Wilson

Whether it's the light-hearted and goofy side of life, or the dark and mundane, chances are Dan Wilson will find a way to put a humorous twist on the topic. Dan's comedy is a no-holds-barred look at everything from politics and pop culture, to relationships and his own family life. Being a native of the San Francisco Bay Area has given his comedy a diverse edge with a unique viewpoint that few other comedians share. Mix his personal take on the world with a high-energy delivery that few are able to match, and you get an explosive look at the world through the eyes of one of the most entertaining performers to come out of the bay area in many years.

A Q&A with Jason Resler
Comedian Jason Resler was ranked among “America’s Top Touring Comedians” by the Entertainment Business Journal, he has performed improv onstage with Robin Williams, and his debut comedy album “Road Comic” can be heard on XM Satellite Radio.

Growing up in Sac, have you been to Tahoe many times?

I grew up in Sacramento, lived on the East Coast for a while. Tahoe has always been a great sweetheart get-a-way destination. It’s one of the most beautiful areas I have been to — and I travel alot. I’ve been to 42 different states and put more than 195,000 miles on my last car.

I go on tour two times a year. Usually do two trips that are about nine weeks long. Traveling across the north and then across the south. The rest of the year stay in California. I stay busy, I have been doing this for about 11 years in row with at least 200 shows in a year.

Where does your inspiration for your acts come from?
Inspiration comes from my crazy life. I tend to come into contact with a lot of interesting characters. I usually use situations I have been in, I am a storyteller.

Why do you most enjoy about being a comedian?
Time on stage. There is nothing like being on stage with a whole room of people listening to your words. Alot of people in the crowd may be down in the dumps —there are many depressing things in the world going on right now — but when people come up to me after the show and tell me that they had a great laugh, that’s what makes me feel good.

If I can make someone happy or give someone something new to think about or draw some attention to a problem in our society, I feel like that is my social obligation to use my talent in that way. This is not to sound too much like a fairytale, but doing what I do gets people together and if we got together to make our voices heard we can make a difference.

What does it feel like to be on stage in front of a crowd?
I was always a super shy guy growing up. I would break out in sweat when a girl would say hi to me in the hallway in high school and not be able to respond. I was always the wallflower and would observed everybody.

Somewhere along the way I broke out of my shell and now people can’t shut me up.  Believe it or not my friends/coworkers would encourage me to be a stand up comedian. Being on stage has been easy for me.

I have been in front of audiences where there isn’t a seat left in the house and other times where there are just a few people out in the crowd. I enjoy whatever I get.

Do you remember your first time (being on stage)?
Yes, Cinco de Mayo 1997.
It was at Laughs Unlimited. I did about five minutes. I had rehearsed it word for word (which I don’t recommend and don’t do now) and I made a guy fall off his chair in the front row from laughing so hard.

How does it feel to be ranked as one of America’s Top Touring Comedians?
It is extremely flattering to me because the survey is based on comedy club owners and other comedians, not just the critics so it was nice to be acknowledged. I have become a “comedian’s comedian” and its flattering to be recognized by fellow comedians.

What is your ultimate goal as a comedian?
My ultimate goal was to be a comedian for the rest of my life and I am making that happen. There is always going to be a need to make people laugh and I am not going anywhere.

It’s a fortunate feeling to be able do what you love doing. The only thing I would rather have rather been doing would to be a major league baseball player, that was it in my life when I was a kid, a comedian or a baseball player.

Anything else you would like to add?
Right now I am just in a phase doing weekend gigs. I will start to heavily tour in the beginning of the year. I drive most places because I am in love with my new truck and can bring my own equipment. See alot of interesting places and people.
