On Nov. 3, Tahoe Women’s Services 19th Annual Chocolate Festival will once again bring together tantalizing chocolate, delicious wine, a silent auction, and night-long entertainment to support an amazing cause. All proceeds benefit Tahoe Women’s Services. The festival will be held at the North Tahoe Conference Center in Kings Beach from 7 to 10 p.m., and cocktail attire is suggested. Tickets are available for $40 in advance and $50 at the door. But be prepared and buy early — this event sells out! To order tickets with a credit card call (775) 298-0010 or visit our website at www.tahoewomenservices.org. Otherwise, visit one of our outlets throughout the community.
As usual, the chocolate-filled evening will include mouth-watering chocolate desserts prepared by Tahoe’s most talented chefs, wine tasting from local wine shops and area wineries, a balloon grab of restaurant gift certificates, and a large silent auction provided by generous donors. Prizes will be awarded to the chefs for Best Tabletop Presentation, Most Decadent Dessert, and Most Outstanding Original Taste. Perhaps, the most enjoyable award for both the chefs and the hundreds of attendees is the People’s Choice award where guests vote on which chocolate they enjoyed the most!
The Chocolate Festival is not only an event for everyone to come together to enjoy a sampling of outstanding chocolate desserts, incredible wines, and great entertainment, but it is also an opportunity to support TWS. As the largest fundraiser for the organization, last year’s event raised more than $50,000. And this one promises to be just as eventful! Most importantly the evening will be a chance for friends of TWS to come together to celebrate the positive impact we have on the surrounding communities.
Tahoe Women’s Services (TWS) is the only agency in the North Lake Tahoe/Truckee communities providing services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and to children who have been abused or neglected. Services include a 24-hour Community Help Line, safe shelter, individual and group counseling, court and hospital accompaniment, assistance with temporary restraining and protective orders, and emergency food and transportation. TWS also provides educational presentations to children, teens, and adult about domestic and sexual violence prevention, as well as healthy relationships. TWS is a valuable agency in the community, recently nominated as Non-Profit of the Year by the Truckee Rotary. The agency was also recognized this year by the State of California for its cultural competency policies and by the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence for its team-building activities.
There are still opportunities for your business to become involved as an auction donor or chocolatier. For more information please contact Michele Prestowitz at (775) 298-0169 or email
