The Space If location means anything, Brook Avenue Grill & Gelato will surely be a success. Located on the corner of North Lake Boulevard and Brook Avenue, the corner venue has indoor and outdoor seating, is decorated with freshly-cut flowers and generally has a homey feel.
The Food The new grill brings back old favorites like burgers, sandwiches and breakfast burritos — “average food but just a little better,” the owners say. The house specialties all include ahi, whether it’s the grilled fish tacos, the thai ahi salad or the blackened ahi sandwich. Serves breakfast and lunch.
The Drinks From gelato milkshakes to fresh-squeezed lemonade, locally roasted Sierra Pacific Coffee to Odwalla or fresh-made smoothies.
Gotta Try If you want to give the full menu a fair shot, arrive with an empty belly. Start with the garlicky fries, a large portion of perfectly crispy, fried potato shoestrings. Follow that with the teriyaki pineapple chicken sandwich. But be sure to save room for dessert — your choice of gelato flavors like dulce de leche, tahitian vanilla or key lime graham cracker.
Tidbit The iced drink cups and “silver”ware are made of biocompostable products. Plus, you can order food ahead of time for pick-up at (530)546-FOOD.
