| Description: | Owner Marcello Taddeo says that consistency is key at Wild Alaskan. Having been open for five years, Taddeo says that having head chef Brandon Uresky in the back of the house for all five of those years, as well as most of the rest of his kitchen staff, allows the menu at Wild Alaskan to stay consistent and unique.
The Space
With a large fireplace, soft lights and a warm feel, Wild Alaskan is like stepping in from a cold Arctic night to the comforts of a cozy lodge. A small bar provides a place for a couple to take the edge off, booths and tables fill the restaurant, and in the summer months seating is available outside.
The Food
Wild Alaskan’s specialty is seafood, more specifically Coho Salmon flown down from Cordova, Alaska. The menu is large, diverse and unique. Items like Wild Thai Seafood Soup are a cross between bold Thai spices and a New England clam chowder. Their specialty is the Wild Salmon Filet with a caper-dill aioli. If seafood isn’t your favorite, try the porterhouse porkchop and the sesame wasabi or raspberry sunflower salads.
The Drinks
Wild Alaskan has a good selection of beers, especially seasonal options from the Deschutes Brewery and Alaskan’s winter brews, as well as an “interesting wine” selection. For a real treat, ask for a made-to-order Irish Cream, or just give your server creative license to mix one up, you won’t be disappointed.
Gotta Try
The ahi-wasabi tacos. Served with wasabi coleslaw (another must try item) and tortilla chips, the tacos are made to order. Including a variety of meat or seafood and either wasabi, caesar or cajun sauce options all rolled up in a flour tortilla.
Tidbit
Wild Alaskan has a small fish market. Wild Alaskan salmon and halibut can be purchased, taken out and defrosted for a meal cooked at home. Also check out Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. every day with half-price beer and wine.
