1. North meets South when music celebrates life

As most of us free-spirited Tahoans know and are now and again reminded of, life can be short. One thing for sure is that when one soul passes it seems to bring many together in mourning and celebration. This past Saturday was one of those days, one of those days that brought together the North and South Shores of Lake Tahoe to celebrate the life of one of our dear friends, Lily Galli.

It was a night full of firsts for Tahoe Comedy North at the Crystal Bay Club last week. The first ever Tahoe Comedy North double-header. The first “R rated” show. And the first time two local comedians have shared billing in the same show.

The funk professor Maceo Parker and his eight-piece “tightest little funk orchestra on earth” delivered a blowout lecture in Funk 101 that left every student dancing on their desk and howling in the hallway.

5. Concert review: Yonder Mountain String Band at the CBC (with slideshow)

The crowd at the Crystal Bay Club came to the Yonder Mountain String Band shows April 23-24 ready to dance. Yonder did not let anybody down. They played two memorable nights of music. The upbeat performances provided something for every type of fan.
