Tuning up for its 26th season, the Lake Tahoe Music Festival tempts music lovers with another season of diverse musical performances from Broadway to Bach and beyond, July 17 – Aug. 9, 2008. Tickets are on sale May 1 and can be purchased online at www.TahoeMusic.org. The performances, all outside with stars forming the ceiling, take place at four scenic venues throughout the North Lake Tahoe area.
The non-profit festival and its musical partner, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, bring a full roster of talent for 2008 including bestselling artist Dave Koz, jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, music legends Dave Mason and Jim Messina, and big band swingers Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, just to name a few. This season’s lineup creates new depth and diversity for the festival highlighting classic rock, jazz, big band, Broadway, acoustic world music and classical.

A six-week session begins Monday, 28 and is led by Mark Tedsen, MS, PT and certified titlist golf fitness specialist. The series meets every month from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Tahoe Center for Health and Sports Performance in the sports training room with state of the art golf fitness equipment. This is the only indoor driving range facility in Truckee.

Reno Truckee Salsa is offering a 4 – week Salsa Basics Dance Class for Beginners starting Tuesday, May 27th from 6 to 7 pm at the Truckee Community Center on 10046 Church Street, Truckee. This 4 - week beginning course will cover foundational salsa technique as you learn salsa rhythm, “the basic step”, partnering, cool moves, and turns in a friendly social atmosphere. Progressive classes follow this beginning class. Everyone welcome, no partner required. $45 per person, $40 if paid in full by the Friday before the first class

BB of Reno Truckee Salsa is offering a 4 – week Casino Rueda Dance Class for Beginners starting Tuesday, May 27th from 7 to 8 pm at the Truckee Community Center on 10046 Church St. Truckee, CA 96160. Casino Rueda is a group salsa dance that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Casino is a style of salsa from Cuba and Rueda means “circle”. So, basically Casino Rueda means “salsa in a circle“. Danced in a group of couples with one caller, couples do a move sequence and then switch to the next person. Known for it’s fast pace, Casino Rueda is a great way to help you pick up your tempo in your one-on-one salsa.
BB of Reno Truckee Salsa has been dancing Salsa for over 10 years and teaching since 2002. He regularly studies Casino Rueda with top dance instructors from Northern California. His current Casino Rueda teacher is Nick Van Eyck of Salsa Vale Todo from Oakland.
